"I am not a god," she replied, each word spilling more blood down her chin from her split lip. "I am not your rival. I am a Champion."

She adjusted her grip on her great sword, though the burning Anchor in her palm made it feel like the hilt was covered in nails.

"I am the Champion of the rattus who built your empires," Ixchel snarled. "I am the Champion of every one stripped of their worth for the sake of another's power. And guess what, you slave-owning, Void-worshiping fuck?!"

Ixchel kicked Corypheus onto his back and dug her heel into the carapace that protected his ribs. He could do nothing as she loomed over him and raised her sword in two hands. Ash and embers fluttered over her shoulders and fell upon his blinking, cowering form, but the sight gave her no pause.

She bared her teeth at him.

"I will never abandon my people."

Already it was getting to be too much, and there was an itch under his skin that nothing seemed to touch. Not sex, drugs, alcohol, the beaches, the spa, nothing. The expectations were never far off. His phone was constantly buzzing with business calls he ignored, but then his voicemail and texts filled with messages that piled up in a little red dot next to the apps. He couldn't bring himself to open either. Six's team was on him for his designs, and he brushed them all off, insisting he was still deep in the "creative process", but in truth, the designs he commissioned under the table had all been delayed en route somewhere between the Capitol and Four. The rebels, it seemed, had wreaked enough havoc on the infrastructure to still be delaying transit between districts.

"What are you looking at, princess?" he snapped at Percy, lip curling into a snarl as he caught her gaze in the lobby, hair still dripping and t-shirt partially damp with pool water. The swim had done nothing to soothe him his dark mood, one where he was feeling reckless and desperate to soothe the crawling demand in his chest that the pent up anger go somewhere.
